Venue Notes
Parking available opposite the hall across the road. (Hall is next to Karen Lesley's Bridal Shop.) Road crossing available, please do not park on the high street.

Drop off is at the main entrance at the front of the building.

Pick up is from the left hand side fire exit door as you face the building, please queue as children are dismissed one at a time. Please come over near to the door so we can see you.

Please do not come too early for classes as either set-up or other classes will be taking place-we can not promise to care for children as we set-up for sessions.

Safeguarding and door security:
The main entrance door to Northop Edith Bankes Memorial Hall will be unlocked for the first 5 minutes of each class for arrivals. After this time, the doors will be locked for the remainder of the session. This will help ensure that only authorised adults can enter the hall.

Once the foyer door closes behind arrivals, it automatically locks again, however it functions as a fire door so it can be opened from the inside.

Please arrive promptly for classes.

If you arrive late and the doors are locked, please knock on the side door on the left hand side of the building (where we let the children out from) please note we may not hear this if music is playing so please wait until no music is playing.

Fire exits will, of course, remain fully accessible from the inside at all times.

An introduction to ballet; teaching basic ballet techniques, terminology and positions.

Classes rotate regularly to keep the class inspiring, fresh and to provoke further development. Imagination and playful learning through creative movement and use of props is included.

The focus of this class is to build motor skills, develop an understanding of rhythm, and stimulate creative expression.

Each week students practise exercises and routines which are showcased to grown-ups on the last week of each term in a 'Show of work'.

'Ballerina Buddy' our mascot Ballet bear chooses a 'Star of the Week' each week to encourage and recognise hard work.

For the first session students can wear clothes they can easily move in such as a T-shirt and leggings. If students do not have ballet shoes for their first trial class they can wear bare foot or gripped socks. Students can bring a bottle of water with them.

This is a drop off and go class so children can concentrate on their class without distraction, grown ups are then invited to watch the sessions at the end of terms.

If your child has additional needs or may require extra support, please contact us prior to booking so we can discuss suitability.

Please see our new members handbook for information, our online shop and FAQ'S page on our website:
